After ten years in prison, Run Rivera is home and a completely different person than he was at seventeen. He has more going for him than most people in his position could count on: family support, a job, and a new and interesting roommate that seems unperturbed by his past. But Run hasn’t really faced the night that changed everything and it won’t be long before he can’t keep it buried anymore.
Neko Laukinis is living a pretty good life. After five years, the cam work collective they helped build is paying the bills, the burlesque group they perform with has the opportunity to secure a long term, local gig, and their mom has even stopped asking when Neko will be getting a real job. Except now that they have more time to spend with the people they love it seems like their personal life is falling apart.
As Neko and Run get to know each other, a close friendship develops over shared life philosophies and a mutual love of good books and terrible television shows.
Content Warnings: Suicide attempts and difficult mental health scenarios, car accident related death, violence, sex (implied and graphic) — this will be updated as needed while the story progresses.
There will be absolutely no bury your gays bullshit, but an important person does die (past), and it’s completely understandable if you don’t want to deal with that.
Neko & Run is an ongoing web novel project by Ani King. It is very queer. Please enjoy.
